Shamrocks Select 11 Players in NAHL Draft

The Watertown Shamrocks selected 11 players Wednesday in the 2024 National American Hockey League 2024 draft.

“We are very pleased with how the draft played out for the Shamrocks,” Shamrocks Head Coach Casey Kirley said. “We were able to continue building our roster by adding six forwards, three defensemen, and two goalies. We believe we were able to fill many different roles going into our inaugural season and are excited to see our roster continue to take shape.”

The Shamrocks landed the first overall draft pick and chose Travis Lefere, a Center from Fox Motors 16U who had 68 points in 61 games last season. Lefere played 2 games for Waterloo, Iowa,  in the US Hockey League last year.

  • Round 1: Travis Lefere, a center from Grand Rapids, MI, who last played for Fox Motors HC 16U.
  • Round 2: Thomas Zocco, a right winger from Staten Island, NY, who last played for Long Island Gulls 18U.
  • Round 3: Justin Bartley, a right defenseman from Orland Park, IL, who last played for Chicago Mission 18U.
  • Round 4: River Leslie-Toogood, a goalie from Winnipeg, MB, who last played for Winnipeg Blues.
  • Round 5: Luke McPhee, a right winger from Stoughton, WI, last played for Drumheller Dragons.
  • Round 6: Cooper Jacobson, a center from Chapel Hill, NC, last played for Sioux Falls POWER 18U.
  • Round 7: Joseph Luger, a right defenseman from Woodbury, MN, who last played for Hill-Murray HS Pioneers.
  • Round 8: Noah Sergott, a left defenseman from Rockford, MI, who last played for Fox Motors HC 18U.
  • Round 9: Alex Sabev, a goalie from Roseville, MN, who last played for Irondale/St. Anthony HS Knights.
  • Round 10: Junior Podein, a right winger from St. Louis Park, MN, who last played for Benilde/St. Margaret’s HS Red Knights.
  • Round 11: Finn Carlstedt, a right winger from Wilmington, NC, who last played for Cleveland Barons 18U.

The Watertown Shamrocks are the seventh and most recent addition to the North American Hockey League Central Division.
