WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS (5-8-0-0) vs. AUSTIN BRUINS (9-3-2-1)

The Watertown Shamrocks will travel to play the Austin Bruins on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Riverside Arena. It will be the Shamrocks’ fourteenth and fifteenth regular-season games of the 2025-26 season. This is the second regular-season matchup between these two teams.
WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS:
The Shamrocks will enter this division matchup after their first series sweep of the Minnesota Mallards. This will be the Shamrocks’ second matchup against the Bruins this season, first on the road.
Against the Mallards this past weekend, the Shamrocks were able to gain two victories. On Friday night, after only two goals in the first two periods, the Shamrocks pulled ahead to gain the lead in the third for a 4-2 win. On Saturday night, after a similar start to Friday, the Shamrocks stormed back in the third period thanks to two goals by Zach Boren.
In the first matchup, the Shamrocks and Bruins split the series. On Friday night, after being down 1-0 for almost all of the game, defenseman Roy Chung found the back of the net for the Shamrocks with seven seconds left in the third period, sending the game to overtime. With a 4-on-3 power play opportunity, Junior Podein captured the game-winning goal for the Shamrocks, putting them on top 2-1. Goalie Mason Gudridge had 38 saves on the night to help Watertown get the win.
On Saturday, the Shamrocks did not have as much luck. They were out-scored 5-2 and were unable to sweep the weekend despite 27 shots on goal.
The Shamrocks sit in seventh in the Central Division.
AUSTIN BRUINS
The Bruins host the Shamrocks this weekend after splitting their weekend series against the Aberdeen Wings.
On Friday, the Bruins scored four times in the third period to win 4-1. On Saturday, despite 42 shots on goal, the Bruins only captured two goals and lost 4-2.
The Bruins sit at 9-3-2-1 on the season, and in third place in the Central Division.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
SHAMROCKS:
- Junior Podein currently leads the team in goals and points, with eight goals, 10 assists, and 18 total points.
- Carter Sproule follows him in goal and points, with five goals and 16 points, and he leads the team with 11 assists
- This past weekend, Junior Podein, Zach Boren, and Owen Chartier each scored two goals.
BRUINS:
- Siamion Marshchanok leads the team with eight goals and 18 points and is in second for assists with 10.
- Matsvei Marshchanok currently has 11 assists, with one coming from Friday night.
- Michael Comleman scored both of the Bruins’ goals on Saturday night.
