Shamrocks Fall to Norsemen, But Look To Pick Up Two Wins Against Bulls

THURSDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks fell to the St. Cloud Norsemen on Thursday night at St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex in the fifty-second regular-season game of the 2025-26 season. 

The first period was scoreless, with goalie Mason Gudridge stopping all 11 Norsemen shots. 

In the second period, Justin Obrochta, assisted by Justin Bartley and Brody Josselyn, put the Shamrocks on the board first at 16:08. At 13:47, Christian Garrity, assisted by Riley Fast, tied the game at 1-1 on the power play. 

The third period did not see any action until the halfway point. At 10:32, Daylin Cline, assisted by Jack Welby and Sam Kartch, pulled the Norsemen ahead 1-2. In the final minute, Jordan Gudridge, assisted by Kyle Greene and Zach Boren, scored on the power play to send this one to overtime. 

Despite the Shamrocks best efforts, St. Cloud’s Dante Rodriguez, assisted by Mate Tardi, netted the overtime winner to give them a 2-3 win.

WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS (28-19-2-2) vs. NORTH IOWA BULLS (22-23-3-4)

The Watertown Shamrocks will host the North Iowa Bulls on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. It will be the Shamrocks’ fifty-third and fifty-fourth regular-season games of the 2025-26 season. This is the third regular-season matchup between these teams. 

 

THIS SEASON:

So far this season, the Shamrocks have gone 4-2 against the Bulls in their six games. 

In the first set of games, the Shamrocks and the Bulls split the series at Mason City Arena. On Friday night, Watertown came out first with a goal, and in the second period, North Iowa evened the score at one. The Shamrocks then pulled away in the third with goals from Boren, Owen Fask, and Grady Dimberio to secure a 4-1 win. On Saturday, the Bulls went up 2-0 in the second, with the Shamrocks storming back 3-2 to end the period. In the third, Owen Chartier tied the game, but the Bulls scored with 45 seconds left to take a 4-3 win. 

In the second set of games, the Shamrocks and the Bulls split again, this time in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. On Friday night, the Shamrocks were shut out 0-4 by the Bulls. Despite 31 Watertown shots on goal, they could not find the back of the net. On Saturday night, the Shamrocks scored three goals in the first period. The Bulls caught up, with one goal in the second period, and two in the third, but a second Sebastian Haborak goal gave the Shamrocks the 4-3 win. 

In the third set of games, the Shamrocks swept the Bulls at Mason City Arena. On Friday, the Shamrocks scored first with a goal from Jake Pietila, and after back and forth, the period ended 2-2. The second and third periods were all Shamrocks, with goals from Daniel Halonen, Zach Boren, and Jordan Gudridge to secure a 5-2 win. On Saturday, the Bulls went up early in the first to make it 0-2. Two Shamrock goals in the second made it 2-3. Two more Shamrock goals in the third put them ahead, but the Bulls scored in the final second to send it to overtime, then a shootout. Owen Chartier and Erick Comstock scored in the shootout for the 5-4 Watertown victory. 

 

WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS:

The Shamrocks will enter this division matchup after a Thursday meeting with the St. Cloud Norsemen, falling 2-3 in overtime. 

The Shamrocks have won two of their last five games and currently sit in fourth place in the Central Division. 

 

NORTH IOWA BULLS:

The Bulls will enter this division matchup after a Wednesday meeting with the Minnesota Mallards, winning 4-3 in overtime.  

Each team traded goals in this Wednesday game. North Iowa struck first on the power play in the first period, but not too long after, Minnesota tied it up. The Mallards took the next goal, giving them a 2-1 lead in the second period, but the Bulls also scored one before the period ended making it 2-2. In the final frame, both teams scored on the power play, sending this one to overtime. In the final seconds of overtime, Michael Malatino secured the Bulls 4-3 win over the Mallards. 

The Bulls have won one of their last five games and currently sit in fifth place in the Central Division.
