Eli Mikesch Announces Collegiate Commitment to Wisconsin Superior

May 22, 2025

Watertown, SD — Watertown Shamrocks forward Eli Mikesch officially announced today his commitment to advance his academic and hockey career collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

“I am excited to become part of UW-Superior,” Mikesch said of his commitment. “They have a historic program of success on and off the ice with a great coaching staff. Again, I would like to thank everyone in Watertown for a great year and an amazing experience. All of the support has helped me prepare for my next step. I’m very excited for the next four years of my educational and hockey journey.”

Mikesch was an inaugural Shamrock and was in the lineup from opening night and missed just two games all season. In 57 games, the native of Houghton, Michigan, scored six goals and eight assists including the game winning goal in the final home game of the regular season in the final minute against the St. Cloud Norsemen.

“We are extremely proud of Eli on his commitment to UW-Superior,” said Casey Kirley, the Head Coach and General Manager of the Shamrocks. “Eli takes his development as a player very seriously, having spent countless hours at the rink outside of practice working on individual skills, as well as studying video. Superior is getting a solid 200 foot player who will do anything to add to the success of his team.”

Prior to joining Watertown, Mikesch also spent time in the AJHL and SJHL in 2023-24 with the Grande Prairie Storm and Melville Millionaires, respectively. He graduated high school from Bay Port High just outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2023.
