Phillips, Cahill Named to NHL Central Scouting Watch List

Watertown, SD — Two players with Watertown Shamrocks ties, Ethan Philips and Phoenix Cahill, were named this week to the NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.

Phillips, a 6’2 and 205lb goaltender, is in his first season with the Shamrocks and has appeared in two games to start the season. The native of Rochester, NY has appeared in a total of eight games in two seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the Shamrocks and Rochester Jr. Americans. In his NAHL career, he has a 2-4-0-1 record to go along with a 4.80 goals against average and an .890 save percentage. He is committed to Providence College.

Cahill spent last season with the Shamrocks before earning a spot this season with the Prince George Cougars in the Western Hockey League. In seven games for Watertown last season, Cahill scored one goal and posted a +1 rating. In five games to start this season for Prince George, he has registered one assist. The Cottage Grove, MN product is committed to play NCAA D1 hockey at Colorado College.
