Watertown, SD — The Watertown Shamrocks are thrilled to announce that the organization has signed defenseman Phoenix Cahill to a tender agreement ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Cahill got a cup of tea last season with the Shamrocks playing in seven regular season games to close the season. In his time with Watertown, he averaged just over 15 minutes of ice time per night and logged one goal, the eventual game winning goal in 3-2 over North Iowa on March 22nd, while posting a +1 rating.
“Phoenix is a big and mobile defenseman who defends hard and makes good first passes,” said Shamrocks’ head coach and general manager Casey Kirley. “He joined our team late in the season this past year and did an excellent job of transitioning to junior hockey.”
Cahill joined Watertown last season and debuted on St. Patrick’s day against the Aberdeen Wings after playing out his junior high school season at Cretin-Derham Hall in Minnesota. He is an an imposing 6’3″ and 207lb right handed blue liner and is committed to play NCAA D1 hockey at Colorado College.
