Shamrocks Earn First Weekend Series Sweep Against Mallards

FRIDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks defeated the Minnesota Mallards on Friday night at Forest Lake Sport Center in the twelfth regular-season game of the 2025-26 season. 

In the first, the only goal of the period was a Shamrocks tip-in by Owen Fask, assisted by Memphis Wilcox’s shot from the point, and Justin Obrochta. Despite 15 shots from the Mallards, goalie Mason Gudridge held them scoreless in that frame. 

At 6:24 in the second, the Mallards’ Pacey Adduono, assisted by Bryce Wiitala and Ty Gordon, bounced in a rebound to tie the game at one. 

In the third period, the Mallards struck first. After a sprawling save by M. Gudridge, Joseph DeLaurentis, assisted by Parker Deschene and Drew Bowe, found the back of the net to give them a 2-1 lead. After that, the rest of the period was all Shamrocks. At 14:06 and on a power play, Owen Chartier buried a goal, with an assist from Junior Podein’s original shot and Carter Sproule. At 6:58, Podein scored on a breakaway pass assisted by Carter Sproule and Zach Boren to pull the Shamrocks ahead 3-2. In the final 1:05, Justin Obrochta pushed the Shamrocks over 4-2 with an empty net goal, assisted by Erick Comstock and Joe Rice.

SATURDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks bested the Minnesota Mallards on Saturday night at Forest Lake Sport Center in the thirteenth regular-season game of the 2025-26 season for their first series sweep of the season. 

Similar to Friday, Saturday night had only a single Shamrocks goal in the first period. At 1:41, Owen Chartier scored his second goal of the weekend, thanks to a perfect pass from behind the net by Antons Macijevskis and Edvins Berzins. 

In the second, the Shamrocks were shut out. At 5:07 on a power play, Mallards’ Bryce Wiitala, assisted by Joseph DeLaurentis and Mitch Vanderway, put them on the board. At 1:41, Beckett Hinchsliff, assisted by Ethan Rosenoff and Matthew Christman, made the score 2-1 Mallards. 

In the third, the action picked up. At 18:59 and on a power play, Junior Podein scored on an empty corner, thanks to a pass by Carter Sproule and Erick Comstock. Less than a minute later, Mitch Vanderway put the Mallards back on top 3-2. At 10:28, Payton Struck redirected a puck off a skate to the back of the net, with assists from Jake Pietila and Justin Bartley. Less than 20 seconds later, Zach Boren tipped in a shot by Andrew Smulkstys and Podein to make the score 4-3. At 4:41 and on the power play, Boren scored his second of the night in front of the net, assisted by Sproule and Podein. In the final two minutes and on the power play, Mallards’ Ryan George, assisted by Deke Davidson and Mitch Vanderway, made the final score 5-4.
