WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS (25-17-1-1) vs. BISMARCK BOBCATS (32-11-3-1)

The Watertown Shamrocks will travel to play the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at VFW Sports Center. It will be the Shamrocks’ forty-fifth and forty-sixth regular-season games of the 2025-26 season. This is the fourth and final regular-season matchup between these teams.
THIS SEASON:
So far this season, the Shamrocks have gone 1-4-1 against the Bobcats in their four games played.
In the first set of games, the Bobcats swept the Shamrocks in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. On Friday, the Bobcats struck first with a goal in the first period, then the Shamrocks tied it up at the end of the first. In the second, the Bobcats had four goals to pull ahead with a 1-5 lead. Two Shamrocks goals in the second and third period made it 5-3. A Bobcats empty net goal made it 3-6 Bobcats. In game two, despite 25 shots on net, the Shamrocks were shut out 0-5 by the Bobcats.
In the second set of games, the Watertown split the series with Bismarck. On Friday night, the Shamrocks got the first goal of the game at 5:30 in the first period. After a quiet second period, the Shamrocks scored three third-period goals to capture a 4-1 win. On Saturday, Watertown was shut out again, despite 25 shots on net. Final score was 0-4 Bobcats.
In the third set of games, the Bobcats swept the Shamrocks at VFW Sports Center. On Friday, the first period was scoreless, but the Bobcats got two quick goals in the second period to grab a lead. In the third, the Bobcats went up 3-0. A goal from both Kyle Greene and Erick Comstock was not enough to put the Shamrocks over. On Saturday, Watertown and Bismarck exchanged quick goals in the first to make it 2-2, but the Bobcats got one more to make it 2-3 to end the period. In the second period, the Shamrocks reclaimed the lead with two more goals. In the third, Bismarck tied it up, sending the game to overtime. Bismarck scored, giving them a 4-5 overtime win.
WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS:
The Shamrocks will enter this division matchup after splitting two games against the St. Cloud Norsemen, 3-2 (OT) on Friday and 2-4 on Saturday.
On Friday, the Shamrocks struck first with a short-handed goal from Zach Boren. The third period started with a quick goal from Edvins Berzins, but two Norsemen goals sent it to overtime. At 3:56 in overtime, Joe Rice scored the game-winner for a 3-2 final. On Saturday, the first goal was from the Norsemen in the second period, followed by another to make it 0-2. Boren scored to make it 1-2 to end the period. In the third, the Norsemen went up 1-3. The Shamrocks scored one more goal, but the Norsemen’s empty net goal made the final score 2-4.
The Shamrocks have won four of their last five games and currently sit in fourth place in the Central Division.
BISMARCK BOBCATS:
The Bobcats will enter this division matchup after sweeping two home games against the Minnesota Mallards, 6-2 on both Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Bismarck scored four goals in the first period, with one in the second, and one in the third period from 5 different goal scorers. Nick Snyder netted two goals in the first. The Mallards had a goal in the second period and one in the third, but not enough to take this one. On Saturday, the Bobcats had three goals in the first period, two in the second, and one in the third. Camden Alemond had two power-play goals in the second period. The Mallards scored in the first period and in the third period, but were dominated by Bismarck once again.
The Bobcats have won four of their last five games and are in second place in the Central Division.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
SHAMROCKS:
- Zach Boren leads the Shamrocks in goals and points, with 25 goals and 49 points. He scored three goals and had one assist this weekend.
- Joe Rice leads the team with 28 assists. He had the game-winning goal on Friday and an assist on Saturday.
- Erick Comstock has 26 assists and had two this weekend.
BOBCATS:
- Theodore Richardson has 50 points on the year. He tallied three assists on Friday and three on Saturday
- Camden Alemond has 46 points and scored three goals this weekend.
- George Poirier leads the team with 18 goals and had one assist Friday night.
