Watertown, SD — The North American Hockey League announced today that Shamrocks’ forward Owen Chartier has won the league’s Community Service Award for the 2024-25 season.

Chartier, who was also the teams individual community service winner, logged over 60 hours of volunteer community service work over the course of the season leading the team. Head Coach and General Manager Casey Kirley also noted that Chartier put in hours of volunteer work outside of team events.

“We are beyond proud of Owen’s accomplishment in winning the Community Service Award,” Kirley said in a statement. “Owen has taken great pride in entrenching himself in the Watertown Community. Winning this award, especially as a first-year junior player, is truly a special accomplishment. As an organization, we value development, advancement, and involvement in the community, and Owen has embraced each of those aspects to the fullest extent.”

On the ice, the Excelsior, MN native scored 12 goals and registered 26 points in 53 games while also being named to the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. He also played in three games for the United States Hockey League’s Tri-City Storm, who hold his rights, as an affiliate player.
