Shamrocks Shoot Down the Mallards

FOREST LAKE, MN. (Friday, February 7th, 2025):

The Watertown Shamrocks snapped their 4-game losing streak against Minot in a dominant fashion with a 7-4 victory over the Minnesota Mallards on Friday night. After a tightly contested first period ended 1-1, with an opening goal from Travis Lefere, the Shamrocks found their rhythm in the second, netting three goals while limiting Minnesota to just one. Cam Markham led the offensive charge with a goal and three assists, while Joseph Rice recorded two goals and an assist. Watertown capitalized on their power play opportunities, going 2-for-4, and outshot the Mallards 34-29. Goaltender Phileas Lachat made 25 saves to secure the win. 
 
The Shamrocks continued to apply pressure in the third period, scoring three more times to seal the victory. Strong performances from Ryan Gingher (1G, 1A) and Grant Gardner (1G, 1A) kept Watertown in control, while their defense and penalty kill held off the Mallards despite some undisciplined moments. Minnesota pushed back late with two third-period goals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Shamrocks’ offensive explosion with a late goal coming from Owen Chartier. With this win, Watertown improved to 3-1-0-1 against Minnesota this season.  
 
FOREST LAKE, MN. (Saturday, February 8th, 2025):

The Watertown Shamrocks dominated the Minnesota Mallards with a commanding 6-1 victory on Saturday night, securing back-to-back wins. The Shamrocks set the tone early, netting two first-period goals from William Shephard and Dmitrijs Dilevka while shutting down Minnesota’s offense. They extended their lead in the second with another goal from Ryan Murphy and sealed the win with three more in the third tallied by Noah Sergott, Ryan Gingher, and Elliot Mikesch. 

Noah Sergott led the charge with the goal and an additional assist, while William Shephard (1G, 1A) and Ryan Gingher (1G, 1A) also contributed strong performances. Cam Markham facilitated the offense with three assists, and Joseph Rice added two assists of his own. Watertown capitalized on their power play, going 1-for-2, while their penalty kill stifled Minnesota’s four opportunities.

Goaltender Phileas Lachat was stellar between the pipes, stopping 30 of 31 shots to backstop the Shamrocks to victory. The Mallards managed a lone third-period goal from Ty Gordon, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Watertown’s dominant play. With this win, the Shamrocks improve their season record 11-28-2-1 and move up to 7th place in the Central Division.
