WATERTOWN, SD. (Friday, March 7th, 2025):

The Watertown Shamrocks fell to the North Iowa Bulls in a hard-fought battle, dropping a 5-2 decision at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. North Iowa struck first with a goal in the opening period before extending their lead with a dominant second frame, scoring three times. Despite trailing 4-0, the Shamrocks responded with two quick goals in the second, courtesy of Cam Markham and Spencer Sasenbury, giving them momentum heading into the final period. However, the Bulls’ defense held strong in the third, and a late insurance goal sealed the victory for the home team.

Watertown managed to outshoot North Iowa 31-29, but Bulls goaltender Kyle Ozgun stood tall, stopping 29 of those attempts. Special teams played a role, with the Shamrocks unable to capitalize on three power-play opportunities, while their penalty kill held North Iowa scoreless on two attempts. Goaltender Mason Gudridge was a bright spot for Watertown, stopping all 15 shots he faced.

WATERTOWN, SD. (Saturday, March 8th, 2025):

The Watertown Shamrocks dominated on home ice Saturday night, securing a commanding 7-1 victory over the North Iowa Bulls. After an even first period, the Shamrocks exploded in the second, netting four unanswered goals to take control of the game. Ryan Gingher led the offensive charge with two goals and an assist, while William Shephard contributed a goal and two assists. Mason Gudridge was stellar between the pipes, stopping 31 of 32 shots to earn first-star honors. Special teams played a key role in the win, with the Shamrocks capitalizing on three of their five power-play opportunities.

With this victory, the Shamrocks snapped their losing streak against North Iowa and improved their season record to 14-31-2-2. Strong performances from Travis Lefere, who tallied three assists, and Luke Gallo, who added two helpers, helped fuel Watertown’s offensive outburst. The team’s discipline and execution proved to be the difference, as they limited North Iowa’s power-play chances and kept pressure on their goaltenders. The Shamrocks will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push toward a strong finish to the season.

The Shamrocks’ next home game is St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, with standing room tickets still available at tickets.watertownshamrocks.com.
