Shamrocks Split with Norsemen in Final Weekend of February

FRIDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks defeated the St. Cloud Norsemen on Friday night at St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex in the forty-third regular-season game of the 2025-26 season.

The first period was quiet, with no goals from either team. Goalie Mason Gudridge saved 7 Norsemen shots. 

In the second period, the Shamrocks scored their second short-handed goal in as many weekends. At 8:03, Zach Boren, assisted by Jordan Gudridge and Andrew Smulkstys, made it 1-0 Shamrocks. 

The third period started with a quick goal from Edvins Berzins, assisted by Boren and Erick Comstrock, to make it 2-0. Two goals from the Norsemen, a power play goal and a short-handed goal, made it a tie game. This one was sent into overtime. 

At 3:56 in overtime, Joe Rice, assisted by Justin Bartley and Mason Gudridge, scored the game-winner for the Shamrocks to make it a 3-2 final.

SATURDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks fell to the St. Cloud Norsemen on Saturday night in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in the forty-fourth regular-season game of the 2025-26 season.

Yet again, there were no goals in the first period by either team. Goalie JJ Salajko saved all 12 Norsemen shots. 

In the second period, the Norsemen struck first at 17:32 with a goal from Kellen Matushak, assisted by Nolam Smith and Avry Shaw. They then made it 2-0 with a goal from Mate Tardi, assisted by Cole Bies. At 2:10 and on the power play, Zach Boren, assisted by Erick Comstock and Kyle Greene, put the Shamrocks on the board.

The third period started with a quick Norsemen goal at 19:14, by Gabe Gallivan, assisted by Sam Crane and Cristian Nichols. At 2:48, they scored on a Shamrocks empty net. In the final minute, Boren, assisted by Owen Chartier and Joe Rice, got his second goal of the game. The Shamrocks fell short in the 2-4 loss.
