Shamrocks Take First NAHL Showcase Game Against Odessa Jackalopes in Dominating Fashion

WEDNESDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 8-2 on Wednesday night at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, in their third regular-season game of the 2025-26 season. 

The Shamrocks started the first period shorthanded, but were able to successfully kill all three of the penalties. Shortly after these penalty kills, at 7:46 of the first period, forward Junior Podein, assisted by Carter Sproule and Payton Struck, netted the Shamrocks’ first goal of the Showcase. After a late penalty by Odessa, the Shamrocks were unable to stop a shorthanded goal by Brandon Catalano, assisted by Carson Lynch, at .20 seconds of the first period. 

Shae Gavin took a five-minute major in the second, and Shamrocks came right back to score their own short-handed goal at 8:43. In a tic-tac-toe fashion, Owen Fask, assisted by Jordan Gudridge and Junior Podein, put the puck in. Right after, still on the penalty kill, a breakaway by forward Antons Macijevskis landed to Shamrocks up 3-1. At 12:39, forward Payton Struck joined the scoring party on the power play to put the Shamrocks up 4-1. At 4:33, Carson Lynch, assisted by Daniel Kuczkowski, scored for the Jackalopes. At 4:19 in the second, forward and newly appointed Shamrocks captain, Carter Sproule, got his first goal of the season, assisted by Zach Borenn. 

To kick off the third period, from the top of the zone, Tanner Geordge snuck it through the five-hole, assisted by Andrew Smulkstys and Joe Rice. At 7:45, Owen Fask went bardown for the Shamrocks, assisted by Joe Rice. To finish the game off, Antons Macijevskis scored his second goal of the game on the power play, to end the game 8-2. 

The Shamrocks’ eight goals are a franchise record.
