Watertown looks to host Bismarck in second matchup

WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS (12-12-0-0) vs. BISMARCK BOBCATS (18-7-1-0)

The Watertown Shamrocks will host the Bismarck Bobcats on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. It will be the Shamrocks’ twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth regular-season games of the 2025-26 season. This is the second regular-season matchup between these two teams. 

This weekend will be the Shamrocks Holiday Celebration. Feel free to dress up and get in the spirit!

So far this season, the Shamrocks have gone 0-2 against the Bobcats in their two games.  

In the first set of games, the Bobcats swept the weekend set in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. On Saturday night, the game started out close. The Bobcats pulled ahead in the second with four goals from four different players making the game 5-1, for a 6-3 final. On Sunday night, the Shamrocks were shut out 5-0 by the Bobcats. Despite 25 shots on goal, it was not enough to hold off their three different goal scorers.  

 

WATERTOWN SHAMROCKS:

The Shamrocks will enter this division matchup after dropping a weekend series with the Austin Bruins at Riverside Arena. 

On Friday, after a scoreless first period, Erick Comstock put the Shamrocks on the board. The Shamrocks held a lead going into the third, but the Bruins scored four goals to give them a 5-2 victory. On Saturday, Joe Rice scored the first and only Shamrocks goal of the night. After this, Austin took over to put up three goals for a 3-1 victory. 

The Shamrocks have won two of their last five, and currently sit in fourth in the Central Division. 

 

BISMARCK BOBCATS

The Bobcats will travel to play the Shamrocks after sweeping a set of games against the North Iowa Bulls at VFW Sports Center. 

On Friday, after North Iowa scored the first goal, the Bobcats took over. They scored three more in the first, allowing one North Iowa goal, then two in the third to capture a 5-2 win. On Saturday, Bismarck took an early lead and held on to it the rest of the game. The Bulls tried to stage a second period comeback, outshooting the Bobcats 17-13, but were only able to convert on one of those chances. With a high-scoring third period, the Bobcats took a 6-3 victory. 

The Bobcats’ record is 18-7-1-0, and they are tied with the Austin Bruins for first place in the Central Division.

 

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

SHAMROCKS:

  • Erick Comstock currently leads the team with 19 assists on the season and scored his second goal of the season last weekend for a total of 21 points. 
  • Zach Boren currently leads the team with 14 goals and 29 points, and is second with 15 assists. Boren had two assists this past weekend for a total of 15 this season. 
  • Kyle Greene has nine assists and three goals in his 15 games played, and scored a goal this weekend. 

BOBCATS:

  • Cooper Williams leads the team with 22 goals and 38 total points, and had a pair of goals this last Friday night. 
  • Charlie Kresl is second on the team with 11 goals, 20 assists, and 31 points. On Friday, he had a pair of assists and an empty net goal, and an assist on Saturday. 
  • Camden Alemond currently leads the team with 22 assists and had five points this past weekend.
