Watertown splits weekend home series with Minnesota

FRIDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks defeated the Minnesota Mallards on Friday night in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in the sixteenth regular-season game of the 2025-26 season. 

Shamrocks’ Jake Pietila scored the lone first-period goal from a deflection, with assists from Memphis Wilcox and Edvins Berzins. This goal sent the arena’s teddy bear toss into full force, covering the ice in bears. 

In the second, the Mallards started the scoring at 18:36 on the power play. Drew Bowe, assisted by Ty Gordon and Wes Berg, tied up the score at 1-1. After that, the second period was all Shamrocks. At 7:41, Andrew Smulkstys, assisted by Justin Obrochta and Jordan Gudridge, pushed the Shamrocks to 2-1. Seconds later, Zach Boren, assisted by Carter Sproule and Justin Bartley, put the Shamrocks ahead 3-1. To finish out the period, Joe Rice, assisted by Obrochta and Owen Fask, scored one more for the Shamrocks, finishing the period 4-1. 

In the third, the Mallards tallied their second and final goal of the game from Bryce Wiitala, assisted by Mitch Vanderway and Bowe. At 4:03 on the power play, Boren tallied his second goal of the game, with assists from Erick Comstock and Kyle Greene. To finalize this victory, Owen Chartier scored in his sixth straight game, assisted by Boren and Greene, giving the Shamrocks the 6-2 victory.

SATURDAY’S GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE: The Watertown Shamrocks fell to the Minnesota Mallards on Saturday night in Prairie Lakes Ice Arena in the seventeenth regular-season game of the 2025-26 season.

On Saturday night, the Shamrocks started hot with the first goal coming 13 seconds into the game. Carter Sproule, assisted by Zach Boren and Kyle Greene, put the Shamrocks on the board 1-0. At 17:02, Drew Bowe scored the tying goal with assists from Mitch Vanderway and Deke Davidson. At 8:16, Keanan Pearman, assisted by Davidson and Joseph DeLaurentis, put the Mallards on top 2-1. 

In the final minutes of the second period, Jordan Gudridge scored on the power play, assisted by Justin Bartley and Antons Macijevskis. Shortly after, Bowe, assisted by Pearman and Wes Berg,  scored his second goal of the game to take back a 3-2 lead. 

Scoring in the third kicked off with a second goal by Sproule, this one at 14:06 on power play with assists from Kyle Greene and Erick Comstock. At 7:36, the Mallards’ Pearman scored the final goal of the game, with assists from DeLaurentis and Ryan George for a 4-3 final.
