Weekend Preview: Shamrocks vs Bulls 3.7-3.8

Mar 5, 2025

WATERTOWN, SD.

The Watertown Shamrocks are set to face the North Iowa Bulls in an upcoming matchup that holds significant implications for both teams. As of March 3, 2025, the Shamrocks hold a record of 14-30-2-2, placing them seventh in the NAHL Central Division standings. The Bulls, with a record of 16-25-3-2, sit just above Watertown in sixth place. This game presents an opportunity for the Shamrocks to narrow the gap and improve their standing in the division. If the Shamrocks can maintain the momentum with another sweep, they will surpass the Bulls in the Central Division rankings. The Shamrocks are coming off of their first home sweep against the Minnesota Mallards and look to protect Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.

In their previous encounters this season, the Shamrocks have struggled against the Bulls, including a series in early November where they suffered multiple losses. The Bulls are one of the only two teams in the Central Division that the Shamrocks have not recorded a win over (Bulls and Aberdeen Wings), with the record of 0-4. To secure a victory in the upcoming game, Watertown will need to focus on tightening their defense, as they have conceded 164 goals this season compared to North Iowa’s 159. Additionally, capitalizing on power-play opportunities and maintaining discipline to avoid unnecessary penalties will be crucial for the Shamrocks to turn the tide in their favor.
