Feb 26, 2025

WATERTOWN,SD.

The Watertown Shamrocks are getting ready to take on the Minnesota Mallards in a pivotal two-game series at the Prairie Lakes Ice Arena. After a hard-fought shootout battle against Minot, the Shamrocks are looking to carry that momentum into this matchup and add crucial points to the standings. Currently, the Mallards rest in 8th place in the Central Division with a record of 10-32-1-2 with 23 total points while the Shamrocks lead in 7th with a record of 12-30-2-2 with 28 points over 46 games. Ahead of the Shamrocks are the North Iowa Bulls with 35 points. Leading up to playoffs, each point will be crucial to the Shamrocks’ success in continuing their season after April 12th.

Watertown has found offensive spark from Travis Lefere, who’s coming off a hat trick performance, while Cam Markham and Carter Sproule continue to be key playmakers. The Mallards, known for their physical play and aggressive forecheck, will be a tough test for the Shamrocks. Watertown will need another strong performance from goaltender Mason Gudridge, who has been a rock in the net, as well as a disciplined effort to stay out of the penalty box. The last time the Shamrocks faced off against the Mallards was only three weeks ago, in the enemy territory of Forest Lake, MN, when they earned their first franchise sweep with scores of 7-4 and 6-1. With both teams hungry for a win, fans can expect fast-paced action and intense battles all weekend long.
