Shamrocks Add Sproule in Swap with Oklahoma

Nov 11, 2024

Watertown, SD — The Watertown Shamrocks Head Coach and General Manager Casey Kirley announced that the team has acquired forward Carter Sproule in a trade completed over the weekend with the Oklahoma Warriors. In the deal, the Shamrocks sent defenseman Joseph Luger to the Warriors.

“Carter will help significantly improve our offensive output with his proven playmaking and scoring ability,” Kirley said of Sproule. “He plays hard and makes firm plays. Carter has worn a letter this season and we look forward to adding his leadership to our group.”

Sproule is a native of Grand Forks, North Dakota and is in his second season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). After a productive rookie season where he registered 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists) in 55 games, Sproule has maintained his point producing pace to the tune of four goals and four assists in 17 games so far this season. He was also a highly productive high school player for Grand Forks Red River where he was teammates with current Shamrock Grant Gardner from 2021-2023.

Sproule is the second addition the Shamrocks have made to help bolster their forward group after acquiring Spencer Sasenbury from the Lone Star Brahmas. Sproule is expected to be available this weekend as Watertown gets set for a home-and-home series with St. Cloud this weekend.
